The church is part of the Mjømna parish in the Nordhordland deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church, which has 310 seats, was consecrated on 5 November 1901 by the Bishop Johan Willoch Erichsen. Anders Korsvold, from Gulen, was both the architect and head builder.
